Finding a good nursing bra is a difficult challenge, but finding a great nursing bra for busty cup sizes is one of the most difficult experiences you will face as a new mom. As a busty mom myself with a DD bra cup size pre pregnancy, I was shocked how much my cup size grew with each pregnancy. My breasts were tender and sore almost immediately after I got those first positive tests. And when my milk came in with each baby, my cup size expanded even more. It might sound crazy, but a well fitting nursing and pumping bra can completely change the course of your breastfeeding journey. If you have a fuller cup size, finding a brand that carries busty size nursing and pumping bras is going to be one of the most important things to do immediately postpartum, and you will thank me later!

Does your cup size change after pregnancy?

Not every mom will experience cup size changes, but 75% of moms report that their cup size grew 1-2 sizes once their milk came in postpartum. This is spot on to my own personal experience as well. If you have a fuller cup to begin with like I did, traditional brands of nursing bras just won't cut it. They’re too tight, too compressive and uncomfortable, and definitely not supportive enough for the heavy girls. It’s important to look for a brand that specializes in busty size nursing and pumping bras and even plus size nursing and pumping bras if you are larger than a standard XL. The fabrics will be selected specifically for these sizes, and accommodate breast tissue growth and expansion.

Am I wearing the wrong bra size?

Wearing bras that are too tight while breastfeeding can lead to one problem after another. Not only is your body changing and adjusting to having your baby outside of the womb but your milk supply is still regulating too. Tight bras can lead to many issues like clogged milk ducts, mastitis, and general discomfort. Wearing a bra that’s too small can also affect milk supply. As a busty mom, the last thing you need is an ill-fitting bra making an already challenging time even harder. A great tip is to shop where you see models that look like your size. This takes away the guessing game of wondering what it will look like on you if the brand photographs on busty and plus size models. A bonus if they also use real moms!

Davin & Adley Amelia Tank

The Amelia Tank is one of my top favorites for nursing and pumping busty moms. Designed specifically in busty sizing with a built-in pumping bra liner, it provides gentle support with the right amount of compression. When you’re pumping, the overlapping flange slits accommodate various flange sizes, and it still provides great coverage for your nipples when not pumping. This tank is nursing friendly too! The Amelia pumping and nursing tank is stylish enough to wear on its own or layered under your favorite outfits. And long enough to tuck into high waisted mom jeans! Truly style meets function with this one!

For those days when you want something a little bit sexy but still functional for nursing and pumping, the Busty Ella Bralette is a dream. The Busty Ella Bralette is soft, supportive, and unbelievably comfortable. The light weight cup design offers a thin padding with a smooth silhouette under any outfit.  The adjustable straps and back closure ensure a customized fit for many moms and a lot of support for busty cup sizes. One of my favorite features of the Ella is the magnetic clasps. These magnetic nursing clasps are unique to this brand and it really elevates the look of this nursing and pumping bra. The Ella bralette is the busty nursing bra you have been dreaming of! Available in multiple colors too!

Even though this style is not specifically in all busty sizes, it’s one of my top choices as a busty breastfeeding mom. The Amelia Cami is not just a basic cami or a bralette. For many moms, it's a lifestyle. It’s a shorter crop version of the Amelia Tank, but with a beautiful lace back! This versatile garment is your everyday essential when it comes to dressing and easy breastfeeding. You can wear it all day layered under your outfits, sleep in it, do yoga in it, or absolutely anything. The Amelia Cami provides the perfect amount of support for any size chest, including busty. The innovative design with front strap sliders ensures easy access for nursing while maintaining a secure fit. Plus it comes in so many cute colors. It’s amazing and every mom needs one! Or 5!
