Now that you’ll be spending more time outside with your baby, breastfeeding might have to look a little different! But don’t skip out on that summer BBQ because you need to nurse or pump… Instead, check out my top 5 successful breastfeeding tips for a fun, relaxing summer!

1. Use a Breastfeeding Wrap

If you plan on spending the summer by the pool, a sarong or loose wrap is the perfect breastfeeding accessory. These provide great coverage whether you are pumping or nursing, but aren’t heavy like other breastfeeding covers.

The nice thing about a wrap is that you can easily pair it with your outfit or throw it in your diaper bag for later. Additionally, moms who like more coverage while breastfeeding don’t have to find a private space to do so!

2. Wear a Full-Coverage Nursing Bra

Speaking of wanting more coverage… wearing a nursing bra with full coverage is also a great option when you are on-the-go! That’s why we’ve created two great options for moms who want a bra that covers more while breastfeeding.

The Ella has an inside coverage panel, making it easy to breastfeed around friends and family without your entire chest being exposed. And if you're a busty mom, you can check out the busty Ella option as well! Also, the Autumn is a high-neck maternity, nursing, and pumping bra that provides higher coverage while also being super cute and comfy!

3. Use the Privacy of Your Car

Out and about with nowhere to nurse? Or maybe you are contemplating heading to the bathroom and hiding in a stall to pump… Trust me, there is an easier way!

Instead of struggling to find a comfortable, cool, and relaxing place to breastfeed, one of the most successful breastfeeding tips I can give you is to use your car. You can put up a sun shade, crank the AC, and breastfeed in peace and quiet. Not only is this a private space, but it can also be a great way to get out of the heat and cool off for a bit.

4. Wear a Breastfeeding-Friendly Swim Top

If you want to maximize your postpartum comfort without giving up your pool time, one of the most successful breastfeeding tips would be to get a swimsuit you can easily breastfeed in!

Unfortunately, there aren’t a whole lot of cute, comfortable swim tops that allow you to breastfeed easily, whether you are pumping or nursing…

That’s why I’ve created the Amelia Pumping and Nursing Swim Cami. It’s based on our best-selling Amelia Pumping and Nursing Crop Cami, but with a pool-ready twist! This top is the perfect addition to your summer swimwear, making it easy to pump or nurse without missing out on all of the fun!

If you haven’t bought a swim cami yet, you’ll definitely want to grab one before they sell out!
